Description

Rapid Fire! is a set of fast play miniatures rules which enables players to re-fight brigade-level combined arms engagements during WW II. Provides for an interesting mix of supporting weapons to go with your infantry, such as artillery, aircraft and armor. Very good rule set to introduce players to World War II miniature gaming.

Nice set of rules. Keeps things moving, allows more of a grand-tactical feel than many WW II rulesets.

After struggling with overcomplicated, irritating WW2 rules for years, Rapid Fire came as a breath of fresh air. For scenarios, the Avalanche "Panzer Grenadier" series is absolutely perfect.

Read the rulebook but yet to see the battlefield.

Good fast play rules for WWII. Provides an easy to play feel without removing too much of the necessary grit.

gives a good quick game. quite tense but maybe a bit oversimplified.

Close to a good system. Simplifies some things while leaving others un-abstracted.

Great ww2 game. I played the first edition a long time ago, and after few years playing Flames of War, Bolt Action, Operation Squad and many others (most of them are very good), I purchased this second edition.... what can I say? This rulebook has EVERYTHING, from basic combat between riflemen to medical support, engineering tasks, ammunition and repairs, air and naval rules, paratroopers and gliders, chain of command.... also, you can find amazing scenarios out there. Finally, some skirmish like rules add cool details to your games!

Good fun set for WW2, mainly for 20mm. Have Russian and German armies for eastern front.

Simple but not simplistic rules. Plays smoothly, with good results. You dont end up with a headache after or feeling you just took an accounting final.

I'd rather play this than a party game.

An okay set of rules. Not wonderful but they do play quickly and aren't too chart reliant.

As a long time player of Flames of War, I am really impressed by this wargame system: it's easy, it's fast and with few basic core rules and a lot of optional advanced rules you can set your game as deep as you like. What's charming is how a few simple rules can generate realistic results, anyway. Rapid Fire seems to me the right system for friendly and interesting WWII games: the focus is on historical scenarios (useless for tournaments and "build the perfect list" play). The proposed scale (1 20mm miniature = 15 real men and 1 tank/gun = 5 real figures) seems really confusing to me, but I don't see any serious problem to think about this game as a sort of 20mm. skirmish, or to use the more logical 15mm basing of Flames of War.

Miniature Rules

WW2 miniatures rules that run like a skirmish (unfortunately they aren't skirmish level rules). Not bad as a gateway type game but IMHO completely lack proper challenges for the level being prortrayed.

A very straight forward and "no nonsense" set of WW2 game rules, plays very quickly even for new players, but dont be fooled by its simplicity, its a great game that rewards some careful thinking, and use of combined arms.
