Description

Note that this game is significantly different from the 1985 G.I. Joe Commando Attack game.

This is a simple combat game in which players attempt to capture all six of their opponent's commandos. Players roll a die to determine how many spaces they may move any combination of commandos. If a commando ends their move adjacent to an opposing figure, combat takes place: each player rolls a die, and the higher roll captures the opposing piece. Once per game, captured commandos may be freed by moving onto a compound gate space. There are also resource tiles on the map that can be picked up and later used to temporarily boost your team's abilities.

The real attraction of the game comes into play when a player rolls the "missile launcher" symbol on the die. The player then uses a battery-operated gun to fire one or two foam discs at the board. If a piece is knocked over, it is captured, even it happened to be your own commando.

A straightforward and dull dice-based combat game punctuated with 3 second bursts of joy when you get to blast an opponent's figure with the disc launcher. Pretty cool game to play with young kids.

A thrift find, I never got around to playing the game before I sold it, but the gun sure was fun for tormenting Karis.

This was a great gift for my nephew, whose favorite thing to do when playing games is to knock everything over (he's 5).

Also have the other version.

Simple roll and move, the disk launcher is a little dues ex machina for my tastes.

Bought by my in-laws as a gag gift for my wife. She asked Santa for some GI-Joe's for Christmas one year and got a letter explaining that guns are bad. So after we're married for a couple years, her parents buy her this... Hilarious. When the kid's a little older, we'll pull it out and watch his face light up!

Hilarious dude-shooting action. Not really much of a game here, but its great fun revving up the "missle launcher" and shooting disks all over the living room.

First of all, I have the REAL version from 1984. Not the lame vesion with the disk gun. I LOVE this game. Granted there is some luck involved but no more then any game of RISK. This has a nice lite combination of tactics and strategy. BONUS: YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE REAL GI JOE ACTION FIGURES IN THE GAME.
