Battle of the Bands: Backstage Pass (2002)

Board Game Rank: Not Ranked

Description

Backstage Pass adds 60 cards to Battle of the Bands. One sizable addition is the gender specification of band members. The Androgyny card can help you reverse the gender of the target bandmember. Donnette, the cute back-up singer, is worth a 4 instead of a 1 if she is part of an all girl band.

This expansion is necessary to play a 5 or 6 player game of Battle of the Bands or "Battle of the Bands encore edition"

Everything an expansion should be, don't play BotB without it. Great new characters and instruments and only very minor and easy to understand new rules. The only downside is the card backs on my copy are slightly more gray than the original set, so you can see whats coming up, but this isn't usually a problem.

The problem with Battle of the Bands was a poor card distribution. It made for a slow, painful opening game that led to a pedestrian "take that" game. Backstage Pass messed-up the card distribution even more. Yipee!

Being just the expansion pack, scored same as game. The added cards did add a nice dimension to play though.

Great for making boy-bands and girl-bands and adds enough cards to play with 6. Pretty much a must have exapansion to give the core game legs.

More mindless, zany fun! Only complaint is that by adding two more "me" cards (thus expanding player capacity to 6), the two new cards are simply "better" than the original four, so some luck plays into the initial selection of avatar card. But, they're not that much more powerful, so it really isn't worth complaining about. :)

I agree with every single other comment on this page.

If you have the base game, this adds a good bit of fun to it. Card stock is poor quality and difficult to shuffle or else this would have gotten an 6.

Must have for use with Encore edition! The "Me" cards have white backs, which is super lame!

Never played without this. :)

A good light filler, fun to play with the non gamer crowd. Not very balanced though, If one player is signed and another is not it becomes a runaway win.

How do you make Battle of the Bands better? Add Backstage Pass. More interesting band members, wackier reputations, and some of the wildest assortment of instruments you'll ever come across. Gimme that Thingamajig!

Nicely adds 5-6 player capability to a game that really benefits from it -- along with a new batch of silly cards. Sadly, it does not include two more dice, but I still recommend it highly.

It's hard to imagine you, your mom, and a gorilla having a boring band, but just in case, there's an expansion.

Many more band members. Bummer that the cards are not identical, but since the new cards are more of the same, it's no big deal to know if the cards you're getting is new or not...

Expansion is more of the same. A fair game with tongue in cheek cards. As the novelty wears off the enjoyment of the game dwindles.

When we play battle of the bands, we use this set with the basic set. Easy, fun game to play.
