Oink! (2001)

Oink! (2001)

3.9 out of 10 with 10 ratings
Board Game Rank: Not Ranked

This is the game Spoons with little rubber pigs instead of spoons. You use one less pig then the number of players in the game and put them in a pile in the middle. You pass cards around in a circle and when one player gets four of a kind they say "Oink!" and grab a pig from the pile in the middle. The person who doesn't get a pig gets a letter, and if you spell Oink you are out of the game.

The game has 12 different cards and there are five of each type of card so the games go a little quicker than they do just playing spoons with a poker deck.

Really cute, but really bad. Check out different ideas to get a better game out of it:

Its basically spoons with a pig themed deck and pigs to grab instead of spoons...:-)

I bought it at an auction for a buck. I overpaid. We have tried this game twice. I have tried to block out the memories, but here is the basic play. Card drafting to collect a set. Yell OINK and then everyone has to grab a little rubber pig from the center of the table. But wait for it....there is one less pig than players!!! So the person who is "slowest" doesn't get a pig and instead gets a letter (yes...just like HORSE). Once you spell OINK you are eliminated. My wife and I started purposely acting like we couldn't react fast enough to get a pig just to get eliminated. Does that make me a bad parent? I hope my kids never get on the geek and read these comments. Avoid this game. I would rather be strung up at the butcher's then play it.

I gave it a middling rating even though it just rips off spoons. The cards are colorful and funny (y'know... for pig cards) and my nephew loves it.
