Received this game as a present in the 70s. Simple idea. Good for 30mins or so.

By
One of my first introductions in life to logic and deductive reasoning. Unfortunately, with the advent of smartphones and tablets and the like, this one doesn't get taken out as much.

I played it a bunch when I was a kid. It's not bad, but I got tired of it.

A classic of strategy. Why is it so underrated here? This is so unfair :(

Ghoul. (Using the pegs for Siege of the Citadel).

Just a mini-version of the full-size game. Not my kind of game.

By
I likely got this for Christmas around 1975. I played it lots. It's just a travel version of the original Mastermind. Mom and I played Super Mastermind lots in the mid-1970s.

I have always liked this game and still love playing it with the right kind of people. I have used it in dressing rooms of plays that I've been in and have teched and I have played it socially. It's nice in being fairly deep and fairly simple to play and I've always thought it was fun to see my friends get stuck if I was mean and decided to make all the colors the same. Good game, though too many games at once can burn you out. Also, the tiny tiny pieces are annoying sometimes, but the tiny tiny travel size is conveinent... convienent... convent... nunnery... nice. Good early abstract strategy.

Bought with my allowance in 4th grade

Quick, easy, and playable with almost anyone. It's not a game I would go out of my way to play, but I'm very glad it's in my collection.

By
I prefer original versions over travel versions, but if I am on a trip, or camping, this is fun to have. Slightly different than [gameid=2392] since you only have 6 tries instead of 10, but it is the same game.

This puzzle-solving game is interesting for a few plays. Most adult players find a favorite strategy, after which it becomes repetitive and dull. Still, it is a good way to exercise the minds of junior to high school kids.

SOLD IT! Feels like working out the very essence of a mathematical puzzle with abstract colored pegs. Perhaps a good learning tool? The portable version makes a nice lil' game that could perhaps go with you on a camping trip.

I ended up pushing the rating up. After all, this was one of the original deductive reasoning games.

Es un juego que ayuda a desarrollar mucho la lógica, fácil de aprender, supertransportable, apto para jugar en cualquier sitio, no requiere demasiada concentración lo cual te permite estar haciendo otra cosa a la vez.

654, travel edition, If you like puzzles or games w/ a " If this... then that" mechanism, this game is your training wheels for that activity. Logic skills should go up w/ repetition .

Used to play the full size version of this with my parents when I was a kid. Have had the travel version for years but never travel with it...basically the pieces are too fiddly and liable to get lost! Has limited appeal after the first game or two, but a simple concept, well designed.

Plus: Can play easily in a car/bus/plane. Minus: those little annoying pegs.

Has little parts and is a little fiddly. I modified my copy with a soldering iron and paper clip so that it snaps shut on its own.

A bit too easy.

More puzzle than game. Still it brings up loads of childhood memories.

I give this the same rating as its big brother, though if given the choice I would always prefer to play with the full size version.

Not an improvement on the original Mastermind.

A teeny version of the classic logic puzzle game. Same exact game, just smaller.

An older player version. See my comments for Mastermind for Kids. The bits are pretty small, you'd better have good eyesight.

Mastermind - well its less a game and more a logic puzzle. Sometimes I like that kind of brain burners, but not all that often...

We have a European version of Travel Mastermind, which looks better. A great quick game when you have 15 minutes at home or on the road.

Not really a game, more a puzzle in which the players take turns.

Master mind is one of my favorite child hood games. I rated 10 I love playing this. Making the opponent guess the order is fun.

Un classico. Anche la versione mini da soddisfazioni. Tra i difetti ci metto il fatto che praticamente si gioca uno alla volta: uno pensa e l'altro legge il giornale...

I'm probably just jaded by the fact that it is so old and so many better deduction games have come out.

By
I have no box or slipcase for this and it seems unlikely that this copy still has a completely full set of coloured pegs but there's enough here still to play the game.

Complete

Just like MasterMind. Okay for thinking but gets old after a number of games.

By
Not easy to play when travelling due to small lose-able bits. And dumbed-down somewhat from the original in order to make it fit your pocket, which makes it a poorer game. But at least it really does fit in your pocket.

By
Not played for a very long time.

I like this type of logic-deduction challenge. I'm used to play it on my Nokia cellphone (the game it's called "Logic")

NL Reisversie. (Spel 5: actie "Het Laatste Nieuws") OMSCHRIJVING: Logisch deductiespel.

--Aug2011-- Amusingly transportable version of the regular Mastermind game. This one only has room for 6 guesses - which is usually enough, in my limited experience. Pulled it out recently for a play - the first such in more than 20 years. ++>100 unlogged plays.++

By
Not played, got the Grand Master Mind. Same kind of setting of cover.

There's actually a travel version called Mastermind Attache Edition which Pressman released in 2006 which is the version I have. It comes in a nice travel case and retains the bits in place while covering the code as well.
