See Illuminati. Kind of unnecessary.

...because you need this expansion to round out your collection!

Pointless overcomplication.

Interesting variant of basic Illuminatia and compatible with all versions except INWO. Doesn't revolutionize the system, but adds another option. Really only required for completist collectors. My comments on Illuminati in general: "From years of gaming, Illuminati, in the totality of it's releases and variants, is the only game I have returned to. Can't get better subject matter or mechanics. It all but forces reflection on and conversation about modern western society. Should be far more popular than it is. The original 1987 deluxe edition could seriously stand a reprint (with the original art, which makes it far more accessible than the much more aggressive and less playful later Deluxe, Bavarian Fire Drill, Y2K, Mutually Assured Distraction and INWO.)

Less interesting addition to the game for me. I can't find my gameboard...

I have Illuminati with all expansions. Now I only have to play it...

A much weaker add-on for Illuminati.

NICE ADDITIONAL COMPONENT.

This is the same game as Illuminati: Brainwash with one major typo on the board.

This and the other expansions are just awesome. This is a fun game with the different groups and factions, and every expansion, including this one, just kept making it better!

Bad; adds little other than time to the game.

Through no fault of it's own, I've never warmed to this expansion. It adds a layer of complexity to Illuminati that I don't feel really needs to be there. It's not that it doesn't work, it's just that I'm a big enough fan of the basic game that I don't feel the need to add in the brainwashing and propaganda mechanics.

Fiddly expansion.

See Illuminati above - these expansions were all fine, if not very earth-shattering. Didn't tend to change the game too much, just added more options to the mix- 3rd was the thinnest of the bunch, if I recall, and came in a plastic sleeve instead of a hard case.

Good expansion for pocket edition. Have the Deluxe Edition.

Unplayed, but it looks bad.

The only expansion that just added unnecessary complexity.

Unpunched.

Punched. Kept in Illuminati Deluxe box.

Blech. Milk it, milk that franchise. The mat is useful and fun, if you fix the Criminal alignment misprint. Blech.

Great game. Right up there with Cosmic Encounter...but better.

Did anyone ever play Illuminati with this expansion more than once? Seemed to be very much optional imo... expansion did not improve gameplay and substantially slowed down the pacing of the game for very little benefit. Never republished or included in Deluxe Illuminati...

This looks...different.

incomplete rulebook only

Found it at the end of Illuminati's heavy rotation in my gaming life so only tried it out once. Potentially interesting complicating factors for the original making it a more complex strategic game rather a race for your society's victory conditions.

Never had any luck convincing people to play with the brainwashing and propaganda rules. They add too much complexity for too little enjoyment value.

Fnord and alignments too.

Introduced Brainwashing, and made it possible for players to shift characteristics and alignments to more suit their purposes. Kind of cumbersome and hard to keep track of, in a game where not keeping track can cost you. Not my favorite.

Unnecessary addition of complexity.

Eh. Expansions were starting to run out of steam.

Parts of this I really like, but the whole extra layer of changing alignments seems like too much on an otherwise straightforward game.

Doesn't add very much to the base game. Rather it adds a lot of complication that the base game doesn't need.
