Wasn't too impressed first time around - the graphics are pretty dire. I thought I'd give this another try but to no avail.

Jugado en casa de Pavlo. Juego divertido con doble forma de combate, lo que le da una gran profundidad táctica. Digno de una buena y larga partida.

A very playable simulation of the whole campaign. Like the combat system in this series. Early GMT fare so map graphics in particular aren't as great as later offerings, but don't let that put you off a what is a great game.

Although small by current GMT standards, the counters are perfectly acceptable and functional in my opinion. The negative comments I've read in this regard seem nitpicky. Good game. Easy to learn.

Interesting system. I like to combat option tables. This game does a nice job of simulating the frustration of being tied to one major highway as the Allies. It still blows my mind that this logistical issue did not cause them to seriously question this operation. Over all a good game.

Fairly good GMT game for the 1944 airborne led campaign. This tactical hex based game is very playable in a long day and simulates the drops in and around the bridges with the ultimate goal of linking up 30 Corp to the Arnhem bridge. This war game plays well and gives a good feel to "a bridge too far".

With other games available, such as MONTY'S GAMBLE: MARKET GARDEN by MMP, the re-release of ARNHEM as a folio by DG, and the durability of Victory Games' HELL'S HIGHWAY, it's just hard to come back to this game. State of the art has simply passed it by.

Period: WW2 Europe Scale: Operational Location: Market Garden Publisher: GMT Note: This is a great game. There is a slight problem interpreting the OOB in the set up, but once you get by this it is an excellent game.

Variation on the standard hex/counter/CRT game in that there are 2 options for CRT. Fun game with inevitable perfect strategy tendencies. Grave seems a bit too strong defensively.

Maps were laminated and folded to fit back in box.

Une bonne simulation de Market Garden. Les points faibles: la laideur de la carte et le système de combat certes précis mais trop lent et compliqué à jouer.

You can never have too many Market-Garden games. So I picked this up for $10 on Ebay in March 2013..

Good and somewhat thorough treatment of the Market Garden operation. Map is so-so by today's standards the OOB is a little confusing for the setup but the game feels like the battle.

The core system here is really excellent but I'd need to see a second edition to get more excited by this game. The graphics need updating, some rules could do with further clarification, the set up can be a pain and there are a few annoying historical errors (eg the Grave island fortress). Still, love the basic rules which are both simple and a lot of fun.

The counters are tiny, hard to read, no visual and easy order of battle aids so setup is a pain. Map is missing half hexes where the link up due to a printing issue. Feels dated. There are better Arnhem/Market Garden games out there.

Used to own it. Decent game.

Game system looks simple, and very playable (without being too inaccurate). On my shortlist of games to play.

Nice game on one of my favorite WWII operation. The maps is a little empty but functional and the system (with different type of combat) is really nice.

By
Thanks to cornjob for trading this to me. I'll try (or at least collect!) most anything about Market-Garden.

A playable game on the Market Garden campaign. Has an interesting combat system but seems much too tough for the Allies. Doesn't seem to be any way Frost, or anyone else except a paltry recon unit can get to Arnhem bridge. I read the rules for Hell's Highway after this and the rules for this seemed derivative by comparison (considering this is more recently published). Rules aren't well set out but are pretty thorough. Only a few grey areas but house rules easily cover them. I doubt I'll play this again but I am glad I have played it. Sold on BGG

It has great mechanics, but the german is too strong in Arnhem (Kicks out the Airdivision far too early), and it is far too easy to blow up an essential bridge (Thus making it impossible for the allied player to win)

Really enjoyed this game and the system in general. I plan on playing it again.

Not as good as Hell's Highway, in any respect, but not without merit. Lots of essential errata. Combat system is odd but seems to work, but the tables should really be separate, not on-map. German air is a bit too liberal, though available in small amounts. There is plenty of room for air point tracking on the map, so why is it on the play aid card? Makes the usual mistake, common to nearly all Arnhem games, of treating 'ferries' as car ferries, capable of moving tanks, when they are actually small boats.

I have played only a few turns, but the system seems easy and workable.

I just couldn't get into it so I sold it off

The road to Arnhem is fought over again with this battalion level para-drop classic. Good combat system, the same found in Silver Bayonet & Operation Shoestring.

Map criticized on CSW for large numbers of inaccuracies. Math traded.

Ok representation of the campaign without too much detail.

Nice exercise to see how 1) Monty's plan was whacked, and 2) precision in airdropping makes all the difference in the world.

Decent game, but it is somewhat dated, and there are balance issues.

One of the first two wargames I ever played. Clearly gave me a great feel of the campaign especially the race against time. Graphics could do with some upgrades but does not detract from the gameplay.

You get to know the struggle the Allies had fighting up one road to Arnhem;I like how they treated the airbourne landings-----the game is dated ,but still lots of hard fighting fun;be advise, this is a long game to play.

A game of Market-Garden at a more manageable size. Always loved the subject; one of the best topics for a wargame.

A very fun game, although somewhat unbalanced - which it should be, to be historically correct! It's not easy being british in this game, although I love playing them. I'll fight to keep the bridges at Arnhem under my control 'til I have no man left standing, while steaming forward through the dutch countryside with my armour; knocking out german troops along the way. edit: The game's balance issues are too great. As soon as the german has dug in at Grave, the Allies can't win. Lowering my grade. The Grave fort was adjacent to the river - not in it - historically. But the game system is wonderful. I hope we get to see more games like this in the future!

Another good game by GMT. Only played it a few times, but liked the way it played. Good starter game. Nice counters, but the map could have been done better. I think it was produced before GMT hired their current graphics team.
